Lewis' death announcement.

Lewis' death was announced on his website and social media pages.

The date or cause of death was not specified, although the memo stated that he died "unexpectedly". "He was a beautiful spirit that affected many lives with his love, soul and music.

He loved his fans very much and enjoyed every opportunity he had when he met you all.

Please respect the family's privacy during this difficult time," she continued.

In a bio on his website, Lewis was born and raised in the East End of London and became fond of music after hearing the Beatles on the radio when he was nine years old.

While at the school, Lewis became associated with drummer Alan Jackman, and after several years they placed an advertisement in a London concert in search of a guitarist and met John Spinks.

The first band of the trio was a prog band called Syrius B, but they didn't last long, especially after punk took root in the mid-to-late 1970s.

After several years of playing separately, Lewis, Spinks and Jackman got together, this time calling themselves "Boys of Baseball" (after a street gangster in the classic warrior cult).

They recorded some demos, took regular tours and by 1984 they had set a record deal and changed their name to Outfield.

Say It Is Not So.

Outfield's first single, "Say It Is Not So," was a huge hit in the United States, but their follow-up, "Your Love," was a top 10 crush, and peaked at number six on the Billboard Hot 100. The song propelled Outfield's debut album in 2015. 1985, Play Deep, to Number Nine, while the band recorded additional radio songs with "All the Love and every time You Cry."

Although Outfield never produced another song the size of "Your Love," it was a staple of rock radio throughout the remainder of the decade with songs such as "Since You Gone", "Sounds of Babel" and "For You." “While Jackman left the group after the voices of Babel in 1989, Lewis and Spinks continued to release albums regularly through the 1990s and early 2000s. In 2009, they collaborated with Jackman and in two years they released Outfield's last studio album, Replay.

After Spinks passed away in 2014, Lewis takes a break from music but eventually finds a new creative spark with the help of his wife, Carol.

As a result of their United songwriting efforts, Lewis' first solo album, Out of the Darkness, was released in 2018.
